Exhibition of Regina Davidavičienė’s ex-libris collection

The School of Calligraphy and Lettering Art, named after Professor Algis Kliševičius, will once again invite you not only to creative classes, but also to a unique exhibition. This time it is an exhibition of bookplates or ex-libris (Latin: ex libris – “from the books”), where everyone will have an extraordinary opportunity to see the early ex-libris of well-known artists in Lithuania and the world. Ex-libris from R. Davidavičienė’s collection were exhibited in Klaipėda almost three decades ago. Regina’s rich collection (about 500 ex-libris) has been “waiting” all this time in the cozy home of the art collector until now.

To the exhibition organizers, the School of Calligraphy and Lettering Art named after prof. A. Kliševičius ,it seemed necessary and meaningful to “return” the collection to the gallery spaces for the benefit of Klaipeda residents and city guests. At the exhibition the early artworks of prof. Algis Kliševičius are presented together with the artworks of Virgilijus Burba, who organized the first ex-libris exhibition in Klaipėda. Also bookplates by one of the most innovative Soviet-era artists Vincas Kisarauskas, ex-libris Gražina Didelytė, Valerijonas Jucys and bookmarks created by other artists for various occasions or events, for individuals.

The exhibition will take place on 17th of May – 1st of July at the Klaipeda City Municipality Public Library named I.Kantas, Art Department, J. Janonio str.9.
